JANUARY 2023 NEWS- EURO IS OFFICIAL CURRENCY IN CROATIA

For sure, apart Croatia being now in Schengen (without borders with other EU countries), biggest and most significant change from 01.01.2023 is that official currency in Croatia is EURO.

All funds/ business and private on bank accounts are with the start of the New Year automatically transferred to EURO at fixed conversion rate, which is 7,53450 HRK for 1 EUR.

First 15 days of New Year it was still possible to pay in Kunas, but from 15.01.2023 EURO is only official currency. However until end of calendar year 2023, all prices should be displayed both in HRK and EURO. The principle of consumer protection, the principle of prohibiting unjustified price increases, the principle of transparency and information are applied as the basic principles of the introduction of the euro.
